This verse doesn’t say: “Be strong on your own. If you fail it is your problem.” It says that we will be strong through the grace that God gives us in Christ Jesus. It says what we should do and how we can do it.
Someone once handed me Psalm 18. The person told me that God wanted to be my strength. I had no idea what that meant. I prayed about it for a month. I asked God what part He wanted to play and how I could let him be my strength.
After four weeks of praying and talking with friends about it, I found out what it meant. It is a simple step of telling God that I am weak and that I need him, that I don’t have any more ideas and so many more problems to solve.
It is just a confession before God that I am weak and that I need his strength to get through the situation. And I can tell you God’s grace will fill you up from inside and strengthen your soul and spirit so that your body is strong as well.
