Today, Bare Tree tells Little Wind that Adam and Eve wrecked things by turning away from God.

“Why would they do that?” Little Wind wonders.

“They listened to another voice—one that said God didn’t really want the best for them,” Bare Tree says. “Believing that lie, they decided to be their own bosses and disobeyed God’s rules.”

“Oh, no!” Little Wind says. “How did God feel? What happened next?”

“God was sad,” says Bare Tree. “Adam and Eve had to leave the garden. Now they couldn’t live forever. Their children fought with each other. Life got ugly and hard. Everything in nature broke down. It was a mess. Trees and animals died, too. Winds became tornadoes. Water flooded the earth.”

Little Wind sighs. “That sounds like life right now. Did God leave?”

“Never!” Bare Tree says. “He always looked for and found people who followed, obeyed, and loved Him. People like Abraham and Sarah, Isaac and Rachel, Joseph, Daniel, Moses, Joshua, David, Ruth, Esther, and many others! They believed in God’s love, tried to obey God’s rules, and held on to God’s promise that one day things would be right and good again.”

Dear God, we need you. You created the world for us to walk with You daily. Forgive us for not following Your ways. Thank You for always loving us and making a way for things to be right and good again. Amen.
