Psalms Streak: A Daily Devotional in the PsalmsSample

Start as You Mean to Go On
Have you ever heard the phrase, “Start as you mean to go on”? It means the way you begin something will determine how you continue. Let’s make it really practical! How do you usually start your day: Waking up late after pressing ‘snooze’ one too many times, rushing to school having skipped breakfast, the teacher mad at you because you left your homework at home?! Maybe you're not a morning person but David gives us a great piece of advice in this Psalm. Verse 3 says:
“In the morning, O Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation.”
How differently would your day go if you began every morning speaking to God, sharing your heart with Him, and starting the day expectant about all the good things that God was going to do in and through you?! Why not try and set your alarm 10-15 minutes earlier this week and put this morning routine into practice? Start the day as you mean to go on.
GO DEEP: Are you expecting good things from God? Take time to lay your requests before Him and ask Him to fill you with hope and expectation today.
BE BOLD: Who needs to hear this? Who could you share it with?
