The Road Less Traveled - a Lent Journey for TeensSample

Mercy as a Gift
“The entire life of a believer is a holy longing. What you desire, you cannot yet see. But the desire gives you the ability to be fulfilled when you see it.” – Augustine
When we recognize our need or desire, we take the first step towards a deeper relationship with God. We all have a deep desire to feel like someone cares for us. Even so, we also experience the joy of showing mercy to our friends, family, or strangers.
Sometimes it feels like we don’t receive mercy from others. It can cause us to feel down and question life. When we think like this, it is challenging to give compassion to others, but God provides mercy free of charge – we only need to receive it.
Exercise:
Think of the people through which you experience mercy. How can you receive their mercy today?
Prayer:
“Jesus, give me the grace to show mercy to my family and friends.”
Scripture
About this Plan

Lent is where we walk with Jesus for 40 days. We are going to look at the Beatitudes of Jesus. These are sayings from Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount. We live in a world filled with uncertainty, fear and anxiety. The beatitudes invite us to live in a new way in this world of ours. Together, we are going to explore new ways to live life.
