Heart To Serve Employers are looking for certain qualities in their employees. One of these character traits is integrity. Even employees expect this from their bosses! Nehemiah had the responsibility to taste the wine before the king partook of his meal to ensure no poisoning was involved. Great trust was at stake and we find Nehemiah had favor with King Artaxerxes from his duties and responsibilities. When the king observed Nehemiah’s sad countenance and inquired of this unusual situation, Nehemiah was honest and told the king his heart for his countrymen and homeland. He was praying the whole time! It pleased the king to grant Nehemiah’s petition to leave his post and fulfill his heart’s mission. Nehemiah had proven himself worthy of respect, dignity, and honor, and the result was fulfilling God’s purpose for His kingdom! This is a life skill to have in order for us to be effective employees and witnesses for God. Prayer: Thank you, Lord, for giving me a redeemed heart to serve you and others. I pray that your Spirit work upon my heart to be pure and honest. In my job may you be glorified and your will be done. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
