God’s Care For Refugees, Foreigners and Strangers

DAY 3 OF 10

Jesus Left His Home To Save Sinners

Keith Getty and Stuart Townend composed a beautiful song called “Across the Lands”. This song describes how Jesus was willing to leave His heavenly home to save sinners:

“You're the author of creation

You're the Lord of ev'ry man

...

Yet You left the gaze of angels

Came to seek and save the lost

And exchanged the joy of heaven

For the anguish of a cross."

Jesus was God from eternity. But He left His glorious position at the right hand of the Father and became a human baby. He was born in a poor and humble family and had to flee the country of Israel to save His life. As an adult, He was despised and ridiculed by many. Far away from His heavenly home, He was a stranger on earth. “Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head," He warned His followers (Luke 9:57-58). And in the end, He was falsely accused and murdered.

Jesus did all this to bring sinners home to God the Father. This was His mission: “Father, I desire that they also, whom you have given Me, maybe with Me where I am, to see The glory that You have given Me” (John 17:24)

Thank You, Jesus, for Your endless love for us!
