Advent in Israel: The Places of Israel & the Story of JesusSample

Day 16 - Mt. Precipice
After being tempted in the wilderness, Jesus began teaching in the synagogues in the Galilee region. This led Him to His own hometown of Nazareth. Jesus read the prophecy of Isaiah 61:1 in the synagogue and declared that He was fulfilling the prophets Isaiah’s words.
The people there doubted Him and demanded signs. He answered that He didn’t expect to receive honor from those in His hometown and that He planned to take His message to others instead.
This angered the people to the point that they took Him to the cliff of what is believed to be Mt. Precipice and tried to throw Him off. Miraculously, He walked back through the crowd, and they did not harm Him.
What parts of Jesus’s message are difficult to receive, and how can we be more open to what Jesus has to say to us in His word?

About this Plan

As we enter the Christmas season, we are all eager to celebrate the birth of Jesus, the point in history where God descended into humanity to bring life to a broken world. Each day leading up to Christmas, we will provide an overview of the biblical significance of a location in Israel, along with a devotional prompt that will connect that location with the life of Jesus in Scripture.
