Love God Greatly - the Greatest Gift GivenSample

The Protection of Faith
Read: Ephesians 6:10–20
SOAP: Ephesians 6:16
And in all of this, by taking up the shield of faith with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
In Paul’s letter to the Ephesians and his letter to the Thessalonians (1 Thessalonians 5:8–10), he gave the early church some obvious instructions to help them on their faith journey. He knew they needed more than a pat on the back and a reminder to “just have faith.” This faith of ours sets us apart from the world. It requires endurance, steadfastness, love, and trust. But as disciple-makers, we are also called to action.
God provides full armor for us that we can put on, offering the protection of faith. The weapons of truth, righteousness, peace, faith, and salvation are meant to apply to our lives and put into daily use. God’s Word and prayer are essential weapons to combat the lies of the enemy. Our very faith protects us, and God has given us all the tools we need.
Through the gift of faith, God has equipped us to navigate all that we’ll face in this world with confidence, knowing that our faith gives us hope, peace, and protection.
This is faith in action. This is preparing ourselves as the warrior daughters of the King, not worriers, ready and prepared to go to battle for our very souls. We are given the armor and the playbook, and God equips us to go and make disciples, to be the light, to serve His children with love while the enemy tries every sneak attack he knows.
Prayer
Father, thank You for faith that protects and for all the tools You have given me to fight the battles and schemes of the enemy. As I wake each morning, help me remember to put on the armor You have given me so I can be prepared and protected to face each day with faith and trust in You. Amen.
