Walking With Jesus

DAY 2 OF 4

OBEY, OBEY, AND OBEY

Luke 1:26-38

Then Mary said, “Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her. (Luke 1:38)

In childhood fairy tales, we often hear stories about children who disobey their parents' advice and choose to do as they please.  They have to bear the consequences when they choose the path to follow their own will.

In the Bible, we also find characters who do the opposite. Mary obeyed when she heard God's decree that the angel Gabriel told her. According to God's will, Mary would conceive and give birth to a son named Jesus (verse 31). It was indeed God's will for Mary.  It was not easy for Mary to carry it out because, at that time, Mary was still a virgin and unmarried. Mary chose to obey God's will that involved her in God's great plan of redemption.

We can learn from Mary about her obedience to God's decrees and plans for our lives. It's not always easy, but obedience is the best choice because God’s grace will strengthen and empower us. May God's decrees and plans be revealed in our lives, bringing pleasure to His heart and prosperity for ourselves and others.

Reflection:

1. When you face God's decree and plans, are you going to remain obedient even though you may face difficulties?

2. What do you learn from the story of Mary's obedience?

Application:

Write it in your today’s agenda to always obey, obey, and obey.
