The Wonder of CreationSample

ON GUARD
Just how smart are smartphones? Well, as it turns out, they’re really smart. They’re even smarter than the computer that first put men on the Moon!
Back in 1969, the Apollo 11 spacecraft delivered Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin to the Moon. The computer on their spacecraft was the most powerful computer of that time. It was called the Apollo Guidance Computer. And it could hold a whopping 2,048 words in its memory. (That means it could only hold about the number of words in this devotional plan in its memory— and that doesn’t include the pictures!)
Even today’s “dumbest” smartphones have over a million times more memory than the Apollo Guidance Computer. And speed? Today’s phones are about 100,000 times faster! How fast is that? Let’s just say that even an “old” iPhone 6 could handle about 120 million Moon missions all at the same time—and they’re getting smarter and faster every year!
Smartphones are really smart. And they can be used for so many good things. Like talking to family and friends, getting directions, looking up Bible verses, and listening to music. But phones can also be dangerous. Songs we shouldn’t listen to, games we shouldn’t play, and pictures we shouldn’t see—they’re all just an internet search and a tap or two away. Once you see and hear those things, you can’t unsee or unhear them. Ask your parents to help you set up a filter or an app so you don’t accidentally click on the wrong thing. And ask God to keep your thoughts focused on Him, the true source of life. Be on guard—only let the good things get inside your brain.
Prayer
God, be a fortress around me. Protect my thoughts and my heart from the evil stuff of this world. Amen.
