Like a KnifeSample

Have you ever heard, “Words have the power to bring death or life”? It’s true! Our words have a very powerful impact on others and ourselves. So how do we speak life? It seems like a strange concept, doesn’t it? But yes, we can all speak life!
It starts with God. God gave us His Word, that is, the Bible. The Bible teaches us everything we need to know in order to speak life into others. Psalm 141:3 tells us “Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips!” First, we need to “guard our hearts” against Satan and his strikes. Words that cause death come from Satan, but words of life come from God.
The Gospel is life. What is the Gospel? The story of Jesus. His sacrifice. His love. His word.
If we share the Gospel, we bring life and light into a very dark, broken world. It all starts with God. Think about it, where were you before you met God? Was it dark? Then, when you met God, did things start to get brighter?
Jesus gave us a command, just before he went to heaven: “And Jesus came and said to them, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.’” Matthew 28:18-20.
This verse is very important. It is the final command Jesus gave us, and when we follow, life happens. And when life happens, we see so much beauty in God’s creation!
We cannot speak both life and death at the same time, so let’s choose to speak life!
