Saved by God, the Story of Noah and the Great FloodSample

Saved by God, the Story of Noah and the Great Flood

DAY 10 OF 10

Be prepared!

“Just as it was in the days of Noah, so will it be in the days of the Son of Man. They were eating and drinking and marrying and being given in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.” (Luke 17:26-27)

The Lord Jesus uses the story of Noah and the great flood as a warning. He warns us not to be like the people in Noah’s days, who did not take the coming judgment seriously. These people had seen Noah and his sons build the ark — such a huge project could hardly go unnoticed, especially since building a large boat on dry land was not usual. Moreover, since Noah is called “a herald of righteousness”, it is very likely that he exhorted his fellow citizens to repent from their sinful lives and to turn back to God.

But they did not pay attention to him. Instead, they continued their ordinary lives “eating and drinking and marrying and being given in marriage” — until the flood came and swept them all away.

Jesus warns us not to be like that. He will come back too, to judge humanity. His coming will be unexpected for many. But we should be prepared and awake. We don’t know when Jesus will return. Therefore, we should not delay in getting right with Him.

Are you longing for Jesus to come back? Are you ready for his return?
