Through the Bible: ProverbsSample

Be Wise in God’s Eyes
An intelligent heart acquires knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.
Proverbs 18:15 (ESV)
Whoever gets sense loves his own soul; he who keeps understanding will discover good.
Proverbs 19:8 (ESV)
I taught my children a motto when they were young: “Read Proverbs a chapter a day; it makes you wiser every day."
The Book of Proverbs is a book of wisdom literature. It has 31 chapters and can form a daily devotion for a whole month. I love reading Proverbs and meditating on different verses everyday, for it is practical, mindful, hard-hitting and packed with God’s advice and guidance to live a righteous life. From marriage to parenting, from relationships to sex and women, from speech to food and drink, from business, money to success and politics – but ultimately I find that the fundamental principle to gain wisdom is to fear God and attain the knowledge of His truth.
Prayer:
Thank You Father God for guiding us how to live in this world wisely and godly with Your wisdom through the Book of Proverbs. Keep our footsteps daily behind Yours, in Jesus’ name, Amen.

The foundational key to acquire wisdom, as the author says, is the fear of the Lord. This book is a manual as well as an invitation for us to live a good, effective and abundant life.
