Guardians Of Ancora Bible Plan: Jesus Feeds A Crowd

DAY 3 OF 5

FIVE LOAVES AND TWO FISH

Just imagine the shopping list for a picnic for a minimum of 5,000 people! This is serious! How on earth can that sort of quantity be feasible for one person to organize?

It can’t. On earth, that is. But, with heaven involved, it’s a different matter altogether. No problem for God. He is the God of vastness and creativity. He is the God of the impossible. He is the God who has perfect timing and endless, amazing power. So, providing what all those people needed? From nothing? No problem!

Except, of course, on this occasion, Jesus chose to make good use of a picnic. He made it stretch, a very long way! Amazing. And the best bit? He said ‘Grace’! He thanked his Father God for the food that he was about to use to meet the needs of all those people.

How much more should we be grateful to God for all that he gives us? Do we acknowledge his provision for us and those we love on a daily basis? Saying ‘Grace’ is a great way to do that. (If it isn’t something you do as a family already, why not start now and make it a habit?)

And then there were the leftovers. Much, much more than Jesus started with and everyone had had more than enough to eat! God always exceeds our expectations. He knows just what we need and just when we need it.

TALKABOUT

Jesus gave everyone in the crowd plenty to eat. No one was hungry afterwards. What does this show you about Jesus?

TALK WITH GOD TOGETHER

Choose a phrase related to today’s Bible reading, maybe ‘Lord, you are all we need.’ Use it as a focus for your prayers.

PLAYING GUARDIANS OF ANCORA

Switch on your game device, go to the Spire and select the Bible Quest: ‘Jesus Feeds a Crowd’ (tap the ‘game-controller’ icon).

Have you completed the first two chapters of ‘Jesus Feeds a Crowd’? If so, see how you get on with Chapter 3 today.

Jesus gives thanks to his father for the food and shares it out. The food just keeps coming and coming, and you need to help the disciples pass it round. As you keep giving – more than enough – you’ve got to be asking yourself: Where has it all come from? What miracle has Jesus done this time?
