Relationships According to the Book of Ruth

DAY 15 OF 17

DAY 15: Don’t Let Circumstances Undermine God’s Plan.

God has a plan for you, a good one. Still, many times we’re tempted to believe that maybe God has forgotten us, or that the plan has changed, or worse, that the plan failed.

Famine caused Naomi and her family to move to Moab and there, Ruth would become a part of her family –Naomi lost her husband and sons, Orpah returned to her hometown. Later, Ruth went with Naomi to Bethlehem, lived as the people did, and later on married and had children.

This is such a powerful story of redemption because we find out later on in other books of the Bible that Ruth is part of the lineage Jesus comes from. The impact of Ruth’s decision is generational.

Though there is no obvious mention of God in the entirety of the book –  we see that God was at work throughout the narrative. He redeemed Naomi and Ruth despite the circumstances they faced.

Are there circumstances in your life today that make it difficult to believe that God has a plan for you?

How often do you ask God about his plan for your life – for today, tomorrow and years to come?
