Day Two - I Honour Others
Welcome to this devotional for kids! Our ‘UP’ series is inspired by our ‘We Will Elevate’ DNA - We practise showing kindness to those around us and never leave anyone out. We value others the way God values us by being a good friend and listener, respecting our leaders and parents, and choosing to always see the good in others.
During this series we want to truly grasp what it means to honour and elevate those around us - not just those who seem to be popular or are the most important in our lives, but to remember that God wants us to ‘take delight in honouring each other’ that means everyone!

In this story, it is clear that this group of friends really loved one another. One of the biggest ways that the Bible teaches us to build great friendships is to be quick to forgive, and today we are going to look at what forgiveness in friendship means.
ASK:
Have you ever been hurt by a friend? Maybe it was something they said or did?
Likewise, have you ever said something that has hurt one of your friends?
Forgiveness is key where there is hurt. Forgiveness means letting go of the wrong. We don’t need to wait for someone to say sorry before we forgive them. It doesn’t always mean that we will feel better - because forgiveness is not a feeling, it's a choice that we must make. It is healthy for us to forgive. If we don’t forgive then it will make us keep feeling bad on the inside.
If you start to feel cross with someone today - make a good choice to be quick to forgive.
If you for any reason do something that has upset someone today - you can also be quick to ask them to forgive you.
God always forgives us when we come back to Him! Let’s show this kind of love to others today.
REMEMBER:
Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honouring each other. (Romans 12:10)
SAY:
Jesus, you show us how to be kind,
No greater love will we find.
Your deep love that gives us great value,
Growing us as we learn more about you.
Our friend, our saviour, our kind teacher,
Helping us see the good in each other.
