Day One - I Honour Others 

Welcome to this devotional for kids!  Our ‘UP’ series is inspired by our ‘We Will Elevate’ DNA - We practise showing kindness to those around us and never leave anyone out. We value others the way God values us by being a good friend and listener, respecting our leaders and parents, and choosing to always see the good in others.

During this series we want to truly grasp what it means to honour and elevate those around us - not just those who seem to be popular or are the most important in our lives, but to remember that God wants us to ‘take delight in honouring each other’ that means everyone! 

Follow along as we truly grasp what it means to honour and elevate those around us!

In this story, the group of friends saw the value in their friend. They also saw the value in Jesus. 

God sees value in every one of us, because He created us! When we see things through His eyes - it changes us and we can love and value others far more!!

ASK:

Have you got something that you love and value? It might be a precious stone, one of your favourite crafts, or perhaps a soft toy? Talk with your grownup about why you love this so much and what it means to you.

How do you look after your precious item? Does it have a special place? Is it something that you can cuddle or do you keep it in a box or on a shelf?

Look at the birds in the air. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns. But your heavenly Father feeds the birds. And you know that you are worth much more than the birds. (Matthew 6:26)

The Bible reminds us not to worry because when we look at the birds in the air they are cared for by God, how much more does God care for you? Just like your precious item, you are so precious to God. The way that God values and cares for us is amazing because He knows our every need! 

Spend time praying that God would show you His heart for others today and help you to value people around you more!

REMEMBER:

Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honouring each other. (Romans 12:10)

SAY:

Jesus, you show us how to be kind, 

No greater love will we find. 

Your deep love that gives us great value, 

Growing us as we learn more about you. 

Our friend, our saviour, our kind teacher, 

Helping us see the good in each other.
