Healing Through Sacrifice

DAY 4 OF 5

Words of encouragement from my youngest daughter’s birthmother:

"My actions got me into the fiasco I got into, and now I am forever changed because of that. I will always have those questions of "what would it be like if I had Karen with me right now." I don't regret the decision I've made. I am so blessed to have found my daughter’s parents and her siblings. Those are the daily battles I go through that God helps me understand. No one is promised tomorrow, so I have to make the best of today. And if that means smiling up at the sky knowing my child will smile at the same one sometime that day, then that’s enough for me to be happy and live the moment I am in with no regret" - Krista.

We are God’s masterpiece (Ephesians 2:10). We all need to be healed from our old selves and thoughts, especially if they are negative. However, healing takes time. For some, it may take ten or more years; thankfully, God waits for our return.

Sometimes we feel unworthy of such a loving Father. If we had a complicated relationship with our human father, we might question the trustworthiness of our heavenly Father. We may not be able to completely wrap our heads around the thought that God seeks a relationship with us. God’s Word (The Bible) supports this statement.

Matthew 11:28 (NLT) says, “Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.”

Rest, what a concept!! The ruler of the universe wants to give you rest. If you can, close your eyes right now and bask in that feeling, a loving Father that shelters you in His arms and provides rest for your weary soul. Healing comes when we can give up our need to seek control and instead give our worries to Him.
