Day Seven—I Am a Good Listener
Welcome to this devotional for kids! Our 'UP' series is inspired by our 'We Will Elevate' DNA—We practise showing kindness to those around us and never leave anyone out. We value others the way God values us by being a good friend and listener, respecting our leaders and parents, and choosing to always see the good in others.
During this series we want to truly grasp what it means to honour and elevate those around us—not just those who seem to be popular or are the most important in our lives—and to remember that God wants us to ‘take delight in honouring each other.’ That means everyone!

Did you know, that just like the friends who wanted to get close to Jesus, Jesus is also our best friend? The Bible is filled with God’s Word, and He can speak to us when we read His Word.
ASK:
How important is it for you to spend time with friends?
I think you will agree that we all need time with our friends. It is important to learn about each other, to grow, to laugh together, to forgive each other and to show kindness.
As we spend time reading the Bible, listening to worship songs, or praying, God often speaks in those moments! He loves it when we spend time with Him! You can be a good listener by spending time with Him reading your Bible, just as you are doing today by reading or listening to this devotional!
If you have a Bible, spend some time today reading one of your favourite stories. Think about what God might be saying to you. Is there a verse or a Scripture that you particularly love reading? Perhaps you can make something creative with it today!
REMEMBER:
Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honouring each other. (Romans 12:10)
SAY:
Jesus, you show us how to be kind,
No greater love will we find.
Your deep love that gives us great value,
Growing us as we learn more about you.
Our friend, our saviour, our kind teacher,
Helping us see the good in each other.
