Day Three—I Am a Good Listener
Welcome to this devotional for kids! Our 'UP' series is inspired by our 'We Will Elevate' DNA—We practise showing kindness to those around us and never leave anyone out. We value others the way God values us by being a good friend and listener, respecting our leaders and parents, and choosing to always see the good in others.
During this series we want to truly grasp what it means to honour and elevate those around us—not just those who seem to be popular or are the most important in our lives—and to remember that God wants us to ‘take delight in honouring each other.’ That means everyone!

In this story, the friends were respectful. They valued Jesus, and they loved His teaching!
ASK:
The Bible teaches us to honour our grownups and to respect those who lead and teach us. There are many people around you who will lead and teach you. Can you name a few people?
We can be good listeners by valuing what our leaders say. Yesterday we asked the question on how good a listener you are to your friends and gave you the task to practice listening throughout your day. Can you remember some of the things you learnt as you practiced listening yesterday?
How do you respond when you are asked to do something? For example: what about when your grownups ask you to tidy your room? Or when a teacher asks you to do a task?
Today, practice listening to your leaders. Remember that they want the best for you, and you can honour them by doing a great job at listening and responding to them!
REMEMBER:
Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honouring each other. (Romans 12:10)
SAY:
Jesus, you show us how to be kind,
No greater love will we find.
Your deep love that gives us great value,
Growing us as we learn more about you.
Our friend, our saviour, our kind teacher,
Helping us see the good in each other.
