Uncommen: But God

DAY 2 OF 5

But God: Remembers Both You And Me

But God remembered Noah...

In Genesis 8:1, we see that God remembered Noah.

The Pulpit Commentary says,

"He remembers man's sins when he punishes them (Psalm 25:7; cf. 1 Kings 17:20), and his people's needs when he supplies them (cf. Nehemiah 5:19). The expression is an anthropopathism [attribution of human emotion] designed to indicate the Divine compassion as well as grace. Calvin thinks the remembrance of which Moses speaks "ought to be referred not only to the external aspect of things (i.e., the coming deliverance) but also to the inward feeling of the holy man," who, through grace, was privileged to enjoy "some sensible experience of the Divine presence" while immured in the ark."

God isn't forgetful and happens to remember Noah. It's referring to coming deliverance and divine presence. It's a blessing, in a sense, to be remembered.

Why was he remembered? Well, he was one of the few righteous men left on the earth. He was obedient to God, trusted God, and believed His promises.

Do you think that Noah got impatient while waiting for deliverance? He spent a long time building the ark and waiting for the floods to subside. It would've been easy at any point to wonder if he was doing the right thing. Noah and his family spent around 370 days on the boat. Would you sit on a boat for over a year, trusting God to make a way for you?

Some of us, including myself, can't make it through the day without grumbling about what God has given us.

We need help. We need God. We need to spend time in prayer, asking God for patience, discernment, and wisdom. Finally, we need to ask for peace while we go through it.

How can we trust God while we wait?
