“The Assignment: Do I have to share?” The assignment that God has given you cannot stand alone. You are part of a larger team known as the Body of Christ or the Church, and this team functions best when each member is doing his/her part, carrying out his/her specific assignment and contributing to the work of other members. One way that we contribute to the work of the whole is through financial giving. God commands each of His children to give financially. Your choice to obey in this matter or disobey affects you, your church, and our world-wide mission to rescue the lost. From the beginning, the Church has pooled its resources to fund ministry efforts. The apostle Paul traveled and shared the love of Christ. He worked to earn a living in some places, but in other places was financially supported by local churches while he established more churches and shared the love of Christ. In 2 Corinthians, we read about multiple churches working together to collect an offering to support Christians in other parts of the world. As you work to carry out your assignment, make sure that you do not neglect your responsibility to your brothers and sisters striving alongside you. Make giving a priority.
