Cooking Up Confidence (Week One)

DAY 4 OF 7

Day Four - Jesus Teaches Us

Yesterday we looked at our HSPE prayers and how they help us to look past disappointments.  Today we are going to have a look at how Jesus teaches us to pray - have a paper bible ready to look up the scripture we talk about.

READ:

‘Hannah’s Prayer’ in any Children’s Bible or 1 Samuel 1:3-19.

The Bible tells us how the disciples asked Jesus how they should pray.

Look at Matthew 6:9-13 in your paper Bible.

This prayer is often known as the Lord’s Prayer and is taught in many schools and churches - maybe you already know this prayer?

Let's take a look at the first verse of the Lord’s Prayer’ and see what each line means.

Let’s look at verse 9. It says "Our Father in heaven". We believe God is our Father in heaven

We can see the ‘Lord’s Prayer’ starts with praising God - how do you start your prayers?

The next part of the Lord's Prayer says "Hallowed be your name". Hallowed means Holy. God is Holy, He is not like anything else. We all make mistakes, but God never does, No wrong can be found in Him. We know that we can praise him because there is no one like him!

ASK:

Maybe you could use the ‘Lord’s Prayer’ as inspiration for your own prayers?

Is there a creative way that you could use to help you remember the ‘Lord’s Prayer’?

REMEMBER:

Open my eyes to see the wonderful things in your teachings. (Psalm 119:18)

SAY:

I believe that the Bible has the greatest news,

That you gave to help us find our way.

Your word can be shared with anyone, anywhere!

We trust what your word says.

You can use my words to share your message

You are with me everywhere.

In Jesus' name - Amen.
