Victorious Life Today

DAY 3 OF 7

Victory and Thankfulness

“But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

- 1 Corinthians 15:57 NIVUK

It’s great to know that we have the victory. On the last day, we will be risen with Christ, have new glorified bodies, and the problems of this world will be behind us. By the works of Christ, we have the victory, and that is why we ought to be thankful.

I love this verse because Paul says we have the victory out of a thankful heart. To me, that means that our attitude of gratitude will lead to living the life of victory in Christ.

If you have never read about the life of Paul, I encourage you to do so. Paul was one of the most tormented people in the early church, yet his letters ALWAYS spoke about having joy and being thankful.

Look at the list below; Paul lived through these things… (2 Corinthians 11:23-25)

• Imprisoned multiple times

• Beaten down so many times he did not remember

• Faced death many times

• Received thirty-nine lashes on five different occasions

• Beaten with rods three times

• Stoned once (the “stoned” that doesn’t feel good at the moment)

• Shipwrecked three times

• Spent an entire day and night at sea floating on a piece of wood

This list goes on in later verses, but I think you get the point. Paul had some tough times in his life. Yet, through them all, Paul was thankful on every occasion.

I know you have a lot of things going on in your life. You have storms, trials, shipwrecks, and beatdowns. Yes, these things happened, and today I want to encourage you to learn from Paul. You need to know that your life of victory begins with your life of thankfulness.

Be thankful to God for everything that you can think of. If you are having a rough time, find things that you can be grateful for. There is always something that you can be thankful for. You can be grateful that you still have your eyesight to read this devotional.

Walking in your victory begins with walking in thankfulness.

Confession Today

“I will live my life with thankfulness. No matter what comes up, I will be thankful, grateful, and live in joy. If Paul could be thankful, this means that I can as well. Thankfulness is my key to victory. I live in victory.”
