DAY 3 OF 6

 Sex and Love

Sex was never meant to be just a physical act. Sexuality, or making love, involves all of our being if being done correctly. Sexuality involves our spirit, soul, and body.

It’s important to strengthen and create healthy intimacy with your spouse on a daily basis. A marriage that has healthy intimacy spiritually and emotionally will be able to bring that intimacy to the bedroom to create a healthy and intimate sexuality together.

In Ephesians 5, Paul refers to the daily discipline of marriage when he tells men to love their wives as Christ loves the church and as they love their own bodies. He goes immediately into telling men in verse 29, “After all, no one ever hated their own body, but feeds and cares for their body.” Let me ask you how often does a man, or a woman for that matter, feed and care for their own body? We eat meals multiple times a day. We care for our body every time we take a shower and every time we go to the gym to work out.

I want to share with you a few exercises I give to couples to keep their marriage in shape or in love so they can have a healthy, consistent sex life as a result of a healthier marriage.

Firstly, everyday share two feelings you had that day with your spouse. “Today, I felt ____ when ____.” Look each other in the eyes while sharing your feelings.

Second, share two praises about your spouse to your spouse. “Today, I loved/liked/appreciated ____ about you.” Again, look each other in the eyes while praising each other.

Lastly, pray with each other every day. Marriage is three people, not two. Bringing the Father into the marriage fulfills the design of God in marriage.

I also, recommend you go on dates regularly. Remember to stay lovers outside the bedroom so that your sexuality is an ongoing expression of your love, not a separate act from the rest of your relationship.
