Good Grief I’m Healed: Hurt in the World, Healed by the Word

DAY 2 OF 5

Activated Faith Shields ~ Forces Fear To Flee

Paul reminds us to put our full armor on every morning before we take a step, so we will be able to stand throughout the day. The armor is essential to the Army of God.

Think about it. Would you show up to work without your uniform or proper attire on and expect to be allowed to remain? Perhaps, but probably not, especially if you are in a service industry or government position. You would be sent home because you are not properly dressed for the job. You are an ambassador for the company you represent so it is important you suit up and show up ready to go.

So, seriously, how do we do that? Here is a practical way to get your armor on each day:

Think through each piece of the God suit and speak it out loud. Thank God for the helmet of salvation that protects your mind. Find “The Armor of God” in Ephesians 6:10-18. Work through each piece, but when you get to the shield of faith and the sword of the spirit, which is the Word of God, realize you must take up these pieces and use them in order to activate the power they possess.

Consider this example: If uniformed military persons walk into a room, many would take notice and may pause to see if there’s a reason for their presence. Fully suited, they carry a high level of authority and as a result, the atmosphere shifts because they are there. A sense of feeling safe may even be felt in the room. But if an armed enemy enters the scene, the soldiers must engage by approaching the invader with a weapon in their hand (in hopes of not needing to use it) and a protective shield around their chest (as a proactive safeguard), or they will not be taken seriously.

Remind yourself you are getting dressed and suited for battle every day because make no mistake about it, in the unseen realm, your spiritual enemy sees you. All who carry the hope of Christ in our hearts are glory containers, and the light of Christ is seen through the cracks of our broken vessels, everywhere we go. When you are fully armored up, prayed up and are taking action steps of faith, trusting in the promises of God, the darkness around you is powerless against you because the light always breaks the darkness. Fear resides in the dark, so when faith shows up, fear is forced to flee.

Our job is to show up all day as Ambassadors of Hope. In faith, as we love and serve others, give generously, forgive freely, and trust in God, the authority of Christ in us does the work through us and we get to stand confident all day long.

The Word does not say we sit in faith, but rather we walk by faith, not by sight; and we walk in faith, not in fear. Faith in God frees us from ALL fear!
