This short but powerful passage can serve as both a warning and encouragement to us.
It is not enough to simply say that we believe something, but live in a way anyone else would live. No, we are to be people of the light. Living in the way revealed to us by Jesus, showing his light to all.
It doesn't mean we will always get it right, though. There will be stumbles along the way. The good news is that when we confess we have messed up he will forgive us and the Holy Spirit will enable us to live in the way of the light again.
Take some time to pray today. To acknowledge your need for the Holy Spirit in order to live as a child of the light.
