Love God Greatly: Growing Through PrayerSample

SOAP – Matthew 26:41 Jesus urges the disciples to remain vigilant about prayer. Although, Jesus knew what He was about to face, He wanted to teach His disciples a valuable principle about the power of prayer to conquer temptation. The Holy Spirit within a believer desires holiness, so when we surrender our will to the Holy Spirit, we become more like Christ. When we depend on our own willpower and our own strength, we will succumb to temptation. What struggles with temptation are you facing today? Has prayer been your first response to these temptations? Will you be an encouragement to someone today by sharing God’s defeat of a temptation in your life? Father God, You are my rock and my salvation, my fortress that cannot be shaken. I thank You for loving me even knowing that I will fail You. I thank You for being my strength when I am weak.
