There's Hope For Today

DAY 328 OF 366

Momentum gained is hard to stop. Momentum lost is hard to gain. When Christians lose their forward motion, lethargy comes like a leech to drain away our energy. When churches lose their forward motion, it takes renewal to get the train moving down the track again.

We need to be moving. We’re in the business of life and death. We have a very real adversary who seeks to destroy our souls. Columnist Herb Caen wrote in the San Francisco Chronicle: “Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the fastest lion or it will be killed. Every morning a lion wakes up. It knows it must outrun the slowest gazelle or it will starve to death. It doesn’t matter whether you are a lion or a gazelle; when the sun comes up, you’d better be running.”

We need to be running. Paul says we’re running a spiritual race and we are to run in such a way as to win the prize. To win, one must train, push, stretch, strain, breathe, eat, and rest – every day! To win, one must hit the ground running every day. To win, one must consecrate, sacrifice, strategize, prioritize, and visualize. Good morning! Get up! Better pray – better move – better watch – there’s a lion out there somewhere.
