Get Ready, A 3-Day Devotional by Elevation YTHSample

Our biggest youth event of the year, YTHX2020, is almost here! However, like most things this year, it won’t look exactly like we pictured. 

You no longer need to pack for this experience, but that doesn’t mean you don’t need to prepare for it. 

We won’t be able to pack out a room, but perhaps this is a chance for you to make room — room for God to do a new thing. 

A 72-hour livestream experience may not have been what any of us were picturing at the beginning of the year, but the reality is this season didn’t surprise God.

We’re stepping into something that doesn’t feel familiar, but we serve a creative God Who cannot be limited or confined by our ideas of normal. 

You may remember when God parted the Red Sea for Moses, but a lesser-known miracle that is still equally as amazing can be found in Joshua 3. In this story, we read about God parting the Jordan River to let His people enter Canaan, the land promised to them. 

However, there was a process to stepping into that promise. 

Joshua tells the Israelites in Joshua 3:9, “Come closer and listen to the words of the Lord your God.” 

God has something He wants to say to you, but He wants you to come closer. He’s obviously helped us all turn down the volume of life in this season (hello quarantine), but it’s still up to us to turn up and tune into the sound of His voice. 

What if you were able to hear God better during YTHX2020 because you moved closer to Him now? What if He speaks louder to you in your room than He did last year over a speaker?

In Joshua 3:5 we read where Joshua tells God’s people, “Sanctify yourselves, because the Lord will do wonders among you tomorrow.”

Friend, we don’t know where you’re reading this from right now. We don’t know what parts of your past still hurt or if you feel stuck in the present because of obstacles that seem too big to overcome. However, we do know that God wants to do wonders in your life. Yes, your life! We believe God wants to take you to the next level during YTHX2020, but it begins with what you commit to Him today. 

And what you have today is time. 

Time to lean in close. 

Time to set aside what’s distracting you so you can unleash what God’s put inside of you. 

Time to lay down the things that hold your mind captive and begin picking up new habits that could set your heart free. 

Time to silence the noise so you can hear His whisper. 

Before God could do wonders among His people, He chose to do something within His people. The miracle was set in motion in their hearts long before the waters parted. 

And the same is true for us. Let’s get ready for YTHX2020, Elevation YTH! God is about to do something amazing among us!
