Dreamville: What Is Your God Dream?

DAY 3 OF 7

JOSEPH GAVE GOD THE CREDIT

Is it just me? Or does everyone have that one friend who takes a good photo of you that you post on instagram or facebook and they say “ooh photo cred please!” and you’re forced to tag them next to a little camera emoji? Or… even worse… they comment “Wow! Nice pic! Who took that?! Hehe”. We all have that friend. Why do people need photo cred so bad?!

Or the classic situation where you drop the world’s funniest joke under your breath in class and your mate next to you says it again but louder and the entire class erupts into a roaring fit of hysterics, including the teacher! And you’re just sitting there looking at your mate who’s stood up on his chair taking a bow like he just gave an academy award-winning performance, taking all the credit that should’ve been yours.

During his time in prison, God used Joseph in a number of remarkable ways. The most impressive of these was the ability to interpret dreams. We all have God-given talents and gifts. Some people can sing, others are ridiculously smart. Regardless of whether your gift is natural or learned, God loves the selfless act of directing all the glory back to Him. If using your gift requires you to be in front of people, like an actress, a sportsperson, a worship leader or a politician, the ultimate act of worship is to give God all the credit.

What I love about Joseph is his genuine humility when giving God the credit. Two people in prison with Joseph have troubling dreams that are disturbing them. When Joseph learned of this, he offered to interpret their dreams but immediately gives God the credit. He says “Do not interpretations come from God? Tell me your dreams”

Joseph is transparent about his gift, telling the prisoners that he, himself, cannot physically interpret anything without the help of God. This is why he is looked at favourably by anyone he comes into contact with, and this type of grace and favour will follow you in your life if you live this way also.
