#JESUS2020 - Daily Devotionals

DAY 10 OF 35

We have been focusing on this passage for the past two days. It says a lot about the saving power of a community. Because the Passover Lamb must be fully consumed, smaller families are to come together. What individuals can never do can be done by a community! The Passover Lamb is chosen on the tenth day of the month but is only eaten on the fourteenth. This is a picture for the community with Jesus, with the Lamb. The family lives with the lamb, gets to know it and loves it. Here we see the two levels of Christian community: community with one another and community with the Lamb. Verse 6 says, “All the members of the community of Israel must slaughter them at twilight.” The protection of the firstborn did not apply to all people, but only to the people of Israel. The Egyptians were not under the protection of the blood of the Passover Lamb. In the New Covenant, Israel is the image of the church. The church of Jesus gives you protection, a spiritual covering. You have so many privileges when you belong to the church of Jesus. During these 40 days, it is very important that you do not live as an "ego-Christian" but seek community as often as possible. Church services, small groups, prayer meetings, etc.,  are all very important. Their protection can be found, change can be found, healing can be found, and heavenly joy can be found.

ACTION STEP:

Think about which community events at your church you could participate in during these 40 days. Perhaps even more than just your normal church program?
