[Exodus Experience Series] Exodus Experience Devotions

DAY 10 OF 10

Always Remember

In an Exodus Experience, when we are in the right place and time for God to show up, in His way and In His time, for His glory and our good, when we pray earnestly and expectantly, when we wait upon Him and take the next clear step recognizing that we are surrounded by Him, when we let Him work His way and in the process build our faith—then we are ready for the final lesson. This is one that the Apostle Paul would put at the very beginning: We are to praise Him. Even in the marketplace, we are to praise Him.

The words Moses penned of the song that the nation sang are worthy of looking at a little more closely because in them we see three important parallel truths. We are to praise Him; we are to worship Him, and we are to exalt Him. Moses tells us that this is a praise song sung to the Lord in a community of believers. They sang this song to Him because He alone is worthy of this praise in view of what He did for the nation.

Next, He is worshipped for His glorious triumph, which is retold for all to hear. The nation confirms Who God is for them—their strength and song and their salvation. Think back over your Exodus Experiences and all of the times that God showed up and was your salvation—literally times when He gave you room to breathe—are they not worthy of your praise and worship? Are they not worthy of your song being sung to Him?

Finally, Moses makes it very personal. He states that God is his God and his father’s God; he will praise Him and exalt Him. What Moses is telling us is that generations will praise Him for what He has done, and he will make sure that the generations after him will know of the magnificence of God. Will our generations know the wonder of our God because we have told them stories of His working on our behalf? Paul tells us that one day nations and tribes and tongues will bow at His feet and worship Him not only because He is worthy but because of what He has done for us.

When God delivers you through an Exodus Experience, do what great leaders of the past have done—remember to praise Him.
