Book of 1 Samuel

DAY 10 OF 10

RELY ON GOD IN EVERY SEASON OF LIFE

For a year and four months David stayed at Ziklag, a city in the land of the Philistines where David escaped to after he was rejected by King Achish. When David was at Ziklag they were attacked by Amalekites., where he happened to be in Philistine land because he ran away from Saul, the King of Israel. Do you see how difficult the life David was during that period of time?

David was a leader who feared God. Even in the darkest moment of his life, in his distress, he chose to strengthen himself in the Lord his God. He brought his men, who were in grief and distress because their wife and children were taken captive by Amalekites, to seek the Lord (1 Samuel 30:6). However, when Saul faced difficulties, he sought guidance from dead people instead of from God.

Often there are times when we are in the difficult problems of life and cannot think clearly. We tend to panic, stress, become angry, disappointed, and frustrated, and even blame God. We cease to pray and worship the Lord, and even seek help from man, instead of waiting upon God.

We need to learn to rely on God in every season of our life. Remember, God is the Lord of our strength, a strong fortress and tower of refuge in life. Jesus is our source of help, who is able to change impossibility to possibility. If we trust and rely on Him we surely will live victoriously. Amen.

“Who is the man that fears the Lord? Him shall He teach in the way He chooses” Psalm 25:12 NKJV
