River Valley Church SOAP -Part 1Sample

Jesus enters into a time in Israel’s history when their nation is under oppressive Roman rule. A Jewish person’s perspective on what the Messiah would be was that he would fight back and liberate them from Rome. Mark’s account of Jesus, however, gives us a very different character in the Messiah. He’s using his power to help those who are powerless, and he’s telling people not to tell others about him. It characterizes Jesus by service rather than by rule, and by humility rather than by forceful power.
About this Plan

SOAP is the daily devotional plan at River Valley Church. SOAP is a simple process that includes reading a selected passage of Scripture, writing down an Observation or two, committing to an Application, and engaging in Prayer. This is a 12 part devotional plan throughout the entire year and we recommend starting with part 1.
