The Warrior’s Passion

Real passion isn’t reckless or hesitant. It’s a strong and hardly controllable desire to accomplish something deeply good. It’s something I knew nothing about in my early 20s. I was a careless young man with one thing on my mind all the time: me. 

I was living a life so far from God that I’d actually never walked into a church building. About that time a co-worker named Andy started inviting me to his church with invite cards.

That year Andy invited me to church 52 times. Each time I said no or maybe next time, I’d put the invite in the visor of my truck. But Andy was relentless, passionate, and convinced—and it would change my life. 

I was hesitant. Those 52 weeks were the darkest I had ever faced. I was losing my family due to the choices I was making, and my priorities were way off. I wasn’t at the end of my rope. I felt like I didn’t have any rope.

One day I went for a drive just to clear my head and figure out what I wanted my life to be. At just the right moment, my visor caved to the weight of Andy’s invites to Life.Church, and so did I. 

Within a few months I’d gotten to know Jesus and some really good people. Through His grace and forgiveness, I discovered a passion I could barely hold in. I came alive. 

There was finally action on the other side of good intentions in my life. Today, I am a loving husband, engaged dad, and pastor at Life.Church. My story is not any more powerful than yours. You were made with passion and power. The same Holy Spirit that raised Jesus to life lives in every Jesus follower.

Say no to hesitation. Say yes to Jesus and unleash your passion into your marriage, your children, your church, and your community. 

Don’t let your intentions pile up like invites in a visor. How can you start using your gifts, time, talents, and love for others? Who can you invite into your life, home, or church? We were made for this!

Pray: God, help me to come alive with passion for You and Your way in this world. I don’t just want to arrive safely one day at the end of my life. I want to give everything I am each day for You. Amen.
