Paul describes the unity we are to have in Christ. Once believers become children of God, we become one through our union with Jesus Christ with no distinction between us. Because we are of Christ, we are heirs of Abraham, receiving the inheritance of his promise from God. Jesus chooses us. He chooses unity with God’s creation even with our imperfections and flaws. Our unity with the Lord is meant to shape our decisions, our choices, our desires, and our purpose here on earth. Father God, I thank You for Your humility and Your desire to be one with me. Help me, Lord, to resist uniting with anything or anyone that will rival Your place in my heart. Open my spiritual eyes so that I am able to see only our thread of unity with believers, regardless of denomination or tradition. Protect and defend Your Church, Lord, against division, religious tradition, and false teachers. Help me to seek only unity in You and to walk in unity with You. In Jesus' name. Amen.
