Chasing Truth™: Read the Bible Cover to CoverSample
Waiting Here for You
Psalm 25:1-11
How many times have you attempted something new, and thought to yourself: If someone could show me how to do this, then I would know what to do?
Before the Internet age, we asked a more experienced adult in our lives to show us a new skill. I learned to make homemade noodles by watching my grandmother. My husband learned how to change a tire by watching his dad.
In today’s Information Age, we can watch and learn from others. Someone estimates that people watch over five billion videos on YouTube every day. Many of those videos are “how to’s,” explaining to us a new technique, a method for accomplishing a task—and giving us advice on any number of topics.
I think maybe the Psalmist David was feeling like we do sometimes, when he prayed this prayer in Psalm 25:4,5 (CSB):
Make your ways known to me, Lord;
teach me your paths.
Guide me in your truth and teach me,
for you are the God of my salvation;
I wait for you all day long.
How privileged we are to call on the God of the universe—who cares about the details of our lives—to show us how to walk a path that leads to Him. He leads us into all truth and teaches us what we need to know.
David knew the secret to learning from God—he waited. Here we could define ”waiting” as “being still in God’s presence.”
Do you want to “know the ways” of the Lord? First, take time to wait in His presence—maybe even if it takes all day—like the Psalmist did. When you hear from Him, you will know what to do.
