Boldness to Speak

Acts 4

Being bold doesn’t come easily to everybody. Some people naturally share gregariously or take a stand against an issue. Others would rather do almost anything than stand up in front of people and say something.

In our media age, society encourages us to be vocal. You can speak “loudly” by sharing a picture from your smartphone, through a tweet, email, or a well-written thought posted to a social media page. 

When it comes to the Gospel, however, being bold takes on a different dimension. Telling others about God’s love expressed through the life, death and resurrection of His Son Jesus Christ is not about being a social media personality or having digital proficiency. It comes from an intimate relationship with God, the Holy Spirit. He empowers us to share Christ with confidence. The Early Church experienced this in Acts 4. The evidence for His Story was the signs and wonders that followed their boldness. 

Let’s cultivate that biblical reality with full surrender to God in faith. His anointing will take us out of our comfort zones and challenge our tendency to introversion. It is God at work through us. Let’s be bold for the Gospel! Like the first Christians, let’s ask God to use us to share His good news!

Do you need a fresh infilling of God’s Spirit and boldness to tell others about Jesus? Ask Him. He is ready to give it to you. He will fill you with the Holy Spirit, as He did for the first disciples—and give you boldness to speak for Him.
