Living With Purpose

DAY 5 OF 7

Perseverance

From the beginning, Jesus’ purpose was to take away the sin of the world by dying. This was not an easy task because not only was He going to suffer the cross, but the road to get there meant that He had to live a perfect life. Jesus had to live a life without sin so His sacrifice would be accepted by the Heavenly Father. You may ask why? Well, because He loves us. There is no other explanation. God wants a relationship with you and the only way to make it possible, was for Jesus to die on the cross carrying all of your sins.

Jesus asked the Father if there was another way possible to reestablish a relationship with you, and the Father was persistent that His love for you meant that Jesus would have to die on the cross. Jesus had to persevere. Perseverance means to keep going even when things are difficult. Jesus did what God wanted even though it was really hard. All of Jesus’ friends left Him and ran when things got tough.

Have you been in a situation like that where things get tough and it seems that even your best friend leaves you? Well, Jesus won’t. He didn’t give up on you then, He won’t do so now. He persevered for you. He made sure that God the Father would be able to call you His child. Would you accept that gift right now? He loves you so. Don’t go through the rest of your life without His love. Receive it for yourself and then share it with others.

Dear God,

I receive the gift of your love. I thank you for sending Jesus to reestablish a relationship with mankind. Today I want to make sure that our relationship is based on the love that you have for me. I receive it.

Amen.
