We live in a quick world. Hungry? Two clicks on an app, dinner and groceries come to your door. We rarely have to wait for anything. Waiting is frustrating. Yet, in his last words to his disciples, Jesus told them to wait. Because they waited, thousands believed and were baptized in a very short time. 

When we first arrived in this closed Asian country, we had only the promise that God would use us to share his message with the never reached. 

Because of government restrictions, we were not allowed to openly share. The Holy Spirit reassured us that he was working all around us and that his timing was perfect. We just needed to wait. 

After five years of waiting and building relationships something suddenly shifted in the spirit realm. We were able to launch our first Bible study. The promise of the Father had come! 

For six months, we saw no response. Finally, our friend, Jaeng, shared his story. I sat in awe as he began to tell of all the Father had been doing in his heart. 

Jaeng’s parents were Christians. He had been waiting 30 years since their death, for someone to tell him about Jesus. Smiling, he told us he was now following Christ. 

Sometimes we just have to determine to wait. Working among those who know so little of Jesus is difficult and exhausting. We must resolve to be persistent. 

Because we waited for the right time to start the Bible study, the seeds that were planted in Jaeng's heart when he was a young boy have brought forth an eternal harvest. Today, Jaeng constantly shares the message of Jesus, his Savior and Healer.

No matter what you are waiting on God for, know that his timing is always perfect. Let’s join with the disciples and be determined to wait on the promise of the Father. If we will believe and not give up hope, we will see a harvest.

Recount instances of God’s past faithfulness to you or to others. Ask God to give you patience and faith as you wait for him to move in your present circumstances. Take some time today to wait in God’s presence asking him to empower you through the Holy Spirit.
