Nine miles a worried father carried his severely burned son to visit our medical team. The boy literally a day from death.

We saved his life, but we desperately wanted to share the gospel. Government regulations, the constant presence of officials severely limited our opportunities. 

God miraculously healed the boy and opened his father’s eyes. In one brief moment when the officials stepped away we shared Jesus. Light shone in his eyes as he acknowledged only the true God could’ve healed his son. It happened quickly.

I believe that the instruction—“Go quickly!”—applies today. Matthew 28:19, isn’t for a select few. Christ commands all of us to “go and make disciples.” 

My husband and I read Christ’s command and felt compelled to go quickly but felt ill-equipped. It sounded crazy for an auto mechanic and a math teacher to go to this Southeast Asian country. Still we trusted the Father to use our skills.

Indeed, with our skills God built a platform to engage the never-reached here. Our heavenly Father specifically gifted us for his plans. The same is true for you.

Will you feel inadequate for the task the Father gives you? Yes! But that will bring God glory, as your weakness reveals his strength. Will you be afraid? Yes! Matthew 28:8 says:

“The women ran quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy” (AMP).

That’s a beautiful picture of what it looks like to step out in faith into the unknown. We stepped into an unknown land with an uncertain future. Sure, we’ve felt fear, but also great joy.

Where is God leading you? To a neighbor or classmate? To someone who doesn’t look or think like you? To an unknown land across an ocean? Wherever God leads you, he’ll use your skills. So, no more excuses. Someone waits to hear. Go quickly!

Go Quickly!

Make two lists: one of your skills and assets and one of your fears related to fulfilling God’s call. Consecrate each asset to God, asking him to use them for his glory. Commit each fear to God, asking him to give you courage to obey in spite of your fears.
