DAY 3 OF 14

Jesus Heals the Paralytic

Faith - it’s an invisible, untouchable thing. Yet, in this scripture Jesus sees the faith among a group of people, so much so that He heals their friend. This group would have been full of hungry-for-Jesus people. Their eyes would have been wide with anticipation, arms heavy from carrying their friend and legs shaking from the excited nerves of what they believed Jesus was going to do. The faith in this group was so evident. It was this great faith that compelled Jesus to fulfill their request.

You know when you’re planning a surprise party? The guest of honour has just arrived outside, you and all your friends are crammed in behind the front door waiting in anticipation for that moment they walk through the door. It’s dark and you’re all trying not to laugh because you’re so excited about surprising your friend, but some giggles escape because you just can’t keep it in! The anticipation, while invisible, is so thick you feel like you could cut it. The same can be said of a group of young people who were truly hungry for Christ.

Something shifts in the atmosphere when we come before Him with empty hands and desperate hearts, truly believing He will bring a miracle. That kind of hunger, that kind of faith, is something He can’t ignore, and beautiful acts of God are all that can come of it.

What’s something in your life that you’re truly hungry for God to move in?
