How Christ Offers Freedom From Pornography

DAY 4 OF 5

Walk in the Way of the Righteous

Christ’s death and resurrection sets you free from your sin, so what does it look like to live in that freedom?

In his letter to the Galatians, Paul gives us a vision for understanding our freedom. He tells us to “stand firm” in our freedom and to not “submit again to a yoke of slavery” (Galatians 5:1). When he writes to the church in Rome, he reminds them that our freedom in Christ is not an excuse to keep sinning. Instead, our freedom should push us into deeper and greater affection for Christ (Romans 6:1-4).

Being free in Christ means that we are no longer enslaved to our sin, so why would we keep living as if we were slaves to our old ways? We have been changed by the Spirit! Now, we can live as changed people, new creations in Christ.

Without Christ, we cannot overcome our sins. We cannot defeat our evil desires, and we cannot cure an addiction to pornography.

But we do not have to live without Christ. We have access to Him, and He wants us to lean on Him as our help and our deliverer.

This is what it means to walk in the way of the righteous: to walk like Christ, and with His Spirit, we are able to do just that. He has given you His word and access to Him through prayer so that you could know what a righteous life looks like. Now go and learn what righteousness looks like. Turn to His holy word and follow His commands. By doing so, you will live as one who is no longer a slave to sin. You will live like someone who has experienced freedom.

As you read these verses today, thank God that He has made it possible for you to walk in the way of the righteous.
