SECOND TIMOTHY


DATE:
Second Timothy was written around AD 67 just before Paul's martyrdom. Paul was back in prison is Rome at the time. 


AUDIENCE:

Timothy, Paul's "beloved son", was still located in Ephesus, and he was dealing with false teachers.


REASON:

This is Paul's final epistle; in which he hands over the ministry responsibilities to Timothy. Paul encourages him to have sound doctrine and to stand strong against opposition that will come his way.


THEME:

Finish strong, Timothy!


KEY VERSE:

"As for you, always be sober-minded, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry." (4:5 ESV)
