NEHEMIAH
When studying the book of Ezra, we learned that both Ezra and Nehemiah were originally one book entitled Ezra-Nehemiah. Ezra, the priest, wrote these books sometime after Nehemiah's return to Babylon in 433 BC. While Ezra was a priest, Nehemiah was a working man. A "man's man". And he came to get the job done.
REASON:
Ezra wrote to record the temple restoration process for future generations to read and appreciate.
THEME:
Restoring the city and the people.
KEY VERSE:
"So the wall was finished on the twenty-fifth day of the month of Elul, in fifty-two days. And when all our enemies heard of it, all the nations around us were afraid and fell greatly in their own esteem, for they perceived that this work had been accomplished with the help of our God." (6:15-16 ESV)
