Unlocking The Heart Of The Artist

DAY 6 OF 8

Dream with God

Receive this into your heart right now! God has created you with a divine DNA, full of His creativity and power. He wants to pour through you in such magnificent ways that everything you put your hand to will usher in His Kingdom and release His Glory. Your art, your creative expression, is not just some hobby or mindless activity. Neither is it a waste of time that will never produce anything real. It is, in fact, a window to the heart of God designed for Him to flow His presence through in order to touch the lives of His people and change the earth.

As a creative person, you are especially sensitive to the world around you. By God’s design, you feel and sense things that few others do. Just as God’s Spirit is sensitive, so are you. It is part of what you reflect on the earth. As an artist, you have a specific medium in which you work, music, painting, fiber art, dance, movement, pottery, and the list goes on. Your creative “language” uniquely represents God’s voice on the earth and in the Spirit.

Have you ever asked God what He wants to say through your art? What if you began to ask God for secrets of His Kingdom as it pertains to your creative expression? What if you began to dream God’s dreams – big dreams; nation-changing dreams; economic-system-effecting dreams; healing dreams? Could God use your art, the creative expression of your hands, to bring healing? Could God give you an idea during your time with Him that could change a nation? Bring revival to a city? Release freedom to a person just by hearing a song you wrote or seeing a piece you just painted? Not only can He do this, it is the passion of His heart to release these dreams to you! Why? Because, He loves you. God knows that when you passionately pursue Him in the Kingdom, you reflect His Glory and walk in your creative destiny.

The Father wants to release His Spirit upon you RIGHT NOW like on the day of Pentecost. He wants to give you a heavenly language that can communicate with people in a culturally relevant way, just like he did Peter! When that anointing begins to flow through you, the response of culture will be overwhelming! Remember what happened when Peter communicated the message of the Kingdom in Acts 2:37? Likewise, hearts will be moved to respond as the power of God flows through your creative expression!

There is a sweet spot where God’s Glory, your dreams, and your art all collide. Why is God glorified when you are in that sweet spot? It is because you are made in His image and He is very passionate, creative and loving. When you touch that part of Him through the expression of your life, you reflect His Glory on the earth. Will you dare to live there? Will you dare to dream His dreams and co-labor with Him through your art?

Take time to reflect on the scripture and teaching today in your journal. Begin dreaming with God, asking the Holy Spirit to activate, reinvigorate and awaken dreams that have been dormant in you for too long. You’re going to be blown away by what He shows you!

And just one word of advice… Be careful who you share your dreams with, dream killers or flame fanners! We all need “Jonathans” beside us who will push us to believe in ourselves and the dreams God has birthed in our hearts! Ask the Lord to align you with people in the Kingdom who will encourage you and connect you with those who are strategically positioned to help make your dream a reality.
