THE WONDERS OF GOD

All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in tongues as the Spirit enabled them…” we hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues! Acts 2:4,11 

I preached the first sermon of my life at the Methodist Church in Greytown, and the people there gave me a chance to declare the wonder of God. 

Harold Berry, an old gentleman whom I love dearly, anointed me with oil, laid his hands upon me, and I believe I received his mantle, the mantle of a preacher, of an evangelist. When he prayed over me, he prayed undiluted Scripture. 

I don’t remember all the Scriptures he prayed that day, but I do remember that he said, “Lord, let it not be so much what Angus says that counts, but let it be Jesus in Angus that affects the people.” 

You don’t have to be a great orator to be a preacher; you have to be full of the Holy Spirit and filled with the love of God. I hope one day to meet Reinhard Bonnke. I don’t rate him as the greatest orator that ever lived, but when that man says, “Hallelujah!” and makes an altar call, the people run forward by the thousands because they see Jesus in him. 

When you've accepted Jesus as your Lord and Saviour you received the Spirit of God. And the Spirit will enable you to declare the wonders of God not only by the words you speak, but also by how you live. 

Lord Jesus, enable me through Your Holy Spirit to proclaim and declare the wonders of God so that people will believe in You, our Saviour. Amen
