Wisdom Of The Teacher For College Students, Ch. 8

DAY 3 OF 5

These verses point to a reality that is disturbingly true. Wicked people come and go from holy places and are praised for doing so. Sometimes we call them wolves in sheep’s clothing. Unfortunately, not everyone who celebrates in the sanctuary is truly a saint!

The Teacher reminds us that in the end it will go well for those who fear God and not so much for those who are wicked. However, in the meantime, it might appear that the wicked are going without punishment.

The need for justice to be swift is included in these verses as well. When the punishment for a crime is delayed, criminals tend to be encouraged to commit more crimes according to these verses. Punishment is meant to be a deterrent to the desire to commit the crime. When the punishment is not doled out in a timely manner, people decide it’s worth the risk.
