 "If My People Pray”

SCRIPTURE:

2 Chronicles 7:14-15 (NIV)

14 If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 15 Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place. 

 

OBSERVATION:

Thousands of years ago, God told Solomon what would need to be done when He allowed hardships to occur to His people. Those same instructions should be put to use today. We need only follow God's commands and He will surely hear our prayers and save us from disaster.

 

APPLICATION:

We are living in a time where morality, modesty, honesty, patience, and self-control are no longer valued by many in our society. I see more and more people are being brought up in the way of faithlessness, and each generation seems to move further away from God. Massacres and natural disasters are becoming so common that many are being desensitized to others' pain and suffering. My heart aches for this generation and generations to come. The world may seem dark right now, but in God's words I find light and hope! If we will come together and return humbly to Him, pray for help, spend time with Him, and repent, then He will listen to us and heal our broken land! 

 

PRAYER:

Dear God, I pray for revival of your church! Soften our hearts and draw us closer to You. Help us to bring back the lost sheep and to bring even larger numbers to You. We need You more than ever, Lord. Forgive us for turning away from You and turning to ourselves. I don't want our world to stay in its current state of chaos. Please grant us the peace that only You can provide. Please heal our land, Father. In Jesus' name, Amen.
